Winnipeg, Man.—Mennonite Church Canada can now be reached from anywhere in Canada via a toll-free number (1-866-888-6785).

"The Canada-wide church is changing in many energizing ways. I keep hearing more and more interest in missional thinking and requests for help from congregations in fulfilling their mission," said general secretary Dan Nighswander. "Providing easier access to leadership and staff with a toll-free number is one way the country-wide church can help bring our geographically scattered community closer together."

Helping to direct callers at the reception desk are Dianne Schmidt (left) and Karen Peters (relief reception), who joined the staff in February and January respectively. Schmidt says the most enjoyable part of her job is "talking to all the people, staff and callers alike."

Peters, who is the administrative assistant for Support Services, provides reception relief for Schmidt during lunch and break times. She has also been instrumental in planning Saskatoon 2002. "I have talked to people from Quebec to Vancouver to across the street," said Peters, adding that she enjoys meeting people and learning about the Canada-wide Mennonite Church community.
